BJP Leader CR Kesavan Criticizes Shashi Tharoor Over Comments on Uttar Pradesh

BJP leader CR Kesavan has strongly criticized Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for his recent comments about Uttar Pradesh. Kesavan accused Tharoor of questioning the integrity and honesty of the people of UP and mocking their culture. He stated, ‘Shashi Tharoor has questioned the integrity and honesty of the people of UP. He has also humiliated the land of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna and belittled the serious issue of examinations.’

Kesavan also mentioned past remarks by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and his mentor Sam Pitroda that hurt the sentiments of the people of Uttar Pradesh. He said, ‘Rahul Gandhi had indirectly said that the voters of Uttar Pradesh are superficial. His mentor, Sam Pitroda, had hurled racial remarks at fellow citizens, calling Indians from the South as Africans, Indians from the East as Chinese, and Indians from the West as Arabs.’

Additionally, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala condemned Tharoor’s comments, calling them an insult to the state of UP. He posted on X, ‘Shameless Congress Not only trivialising a sensitive issue, politicising it but now insulting entire State of UP.’

This controversy arose after Shashi Tharoor shared a post on X that humorously described Uttar Pradesh as a state where exam answers are known beforehand. Tharoor described the post as ‘shandaar’ and added the hashtag ‘Pariksha pe charcha,’ a reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative to interact with students.
