BJP Leader Agnimitra Paul Criticizes Mamata Banerjee Over RG Kar Doctor’s Case

The West Bengal BJP’s women’s unit staged a protest against the RG Kar rape and murder case, accusing the state administration of inaction. The women protesters carried cut-outs of locks to symbolize their demands for better law and order.

On Friday, BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul reacted to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s statement, ‘Bengal jalega, to poora Bharat jalega,’ calling it anti-national and demanding her arrest under the UAPA act. Paul stated, ‘The way she is saying things is a language of an anti-national. If someone else would have said such things then, a case under UAPA must have been registered.’

Paul also criticized Banerjee for allegedly covering up the case by calling it a suicide and tampering with evidence. She pointed out that the main culprit, Sandip Ghosh, was not terminated but transferred to another position.

During a Trinamool ‘Chhatra Parishad’ foundation day program, Banerjee accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of using his party to ignite tensions in Bengal over the case. She said, ‘If you burn Bengal, Assam, the North-East, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi too shall burn! We will topple your government.’

Paul supported the victim’s mother’s statement that Banerjee could not understand the pain as she had no children. She questioned why the FIR was not registered for 14 hours and why the body was not preserved for a second post-mortem.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the case and has conducted polygraph tests on Sandip Ghosh and the arrested accused, Sanjay Roy. The CBI took over the investigation following directions from the Calcutta High Court.
