BJP Demands Jagan Mohan Reddy Declare Faith Before Tirumala Temple Visit

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to declare his faith before his planned visit to the Tirumala temple on September 28. BJP State President Daggubati Purandeswari stated that non-Hindus must submit a declaration at the Vaikuntam queue complex before darshan, as per Andhra Pradesh Revenue Endowments Rule 16 and TTD General Regulations Rule 136.

Purandeswari insisted that Jagan Reddy should provide the declaration at Alipiri’s Garuda statue before beginning his Tirumala darshan. She emphasized that this practice has been in place for decades.

TDP spokesperson Kommareddy Pattabhi Ram also stressed the importance of this declaration, stating that Jagan Reddy would not be allowed inside the temple complex without it. He mentioned that Jagan Reddy, a known Christian, had previously visited the temple without signing the declaration, which is a customary requirement for non-Hindus.

On the other hand, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) urged devotees to participate in temple poojas on September 28 to restore the sanctity of Tirumala. YSRCP Chief and Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accused current Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of spreading false claims about the temple’s sacred laddu prasadam being adulterated with animal fat, which hurt the sentiments of devotees.

The YSRCP called for these poojas to purify Tirumala’s sacredness and restore the honour of Lord Venkateswara’s Prasadam.
