Chhattisgarh Deputy CM’s Response

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao condemned Abdullah’s remarks, describing them as reflective of a ‘separatist mentality.’ He urged the Congress party to clarify their stance on Abdullah’s statements.

BJP Leaders’ Reactions

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad questioned the Congress party’s silence on the issue, emphasizing that Kashmir has changed and is now developing. BJP spokesperson Rachna Reddy also criticized Abdullah, calling for the removal of ‘separatist and seditious elements’ from Indian politics.

Defence Minister’s Criticism

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh questioned whether Afzal Guru should have been publicly garlanded instead of being executed, criticizing Abdullah’s stance.

BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi accused Abdullah of having a ‘separatist anti-national design,’ while BJP MP Manoj Tiwari labeled Abdullah’s remarks as ‘anti-country.’ BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed Abdullah’s comments reflect the mindset of the INDIA bloc, which he said supports terrorists.

The Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections are scheduled for September 18, 25, and October 1, with vote counting on October 8. These are the first elections since the abrogation of Article 370. Omar Abdullah is contesting from Ganderbal and Budgam constituencies, with Congress and the National Conference running as allies.
