BJP Criticizes DMK’s Cabinet Reshuffle Amid Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Expected Promotion

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 25: Amid speculation about Tamil Nadu sports minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s elevation to Deputy Chief Minister, the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit has criticized the DMK government’s planned cabinet reshuffle. They claim it prioritizes leaders’ interests over the state’s welfare.

BJP’s Allegations

BJP spokesperson ANS Prasad stated that Udhayanidhi’s rise is largely due to his family legacy, being the grandson of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi and son of the current Chief Minister MK Stalin. Prasad accused the DMK government of rampant corruption, nepotism, and crony capitalism over the past three years.

Prasad said, “The Chief Minister should focus on uplifting all Tamil Nadu families, not just his own. The state’s youth suffer due to DMK’s false promises, corruption, and anti-people policies. Furthermore, the Chief Minister’s enthusiasm for his son Udhayanidhi Stalin’s growth in the sports department raises questions. Why doesn’t he show equal concern for Tamil Nadu’s development and people’s welfare? Every parent desires their child’s success, but shouldn’t the Chief Minister prioritize all Tamil Nadu children’s growth?”

Concerns Over Family-Dominated Politics

Prasad expressed concerns over the DMK’s “family-dominated politics” and the Chief Minister’s “monarchic style” of succession. He claimed that the DMK government has failed to prioritize the welfare of Tamil Nadu’s citizens, catering to party leaders and cronies instead.

In contrast, Prasad highlighted that the BJP-led alliance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi promises clean governance, prioritizing Tamil Nadu’s welfare. He urged the people of Tamil Nadu to vote wisely in the 2026 assembly elections.

Upcoming Announcement and Public Meeting

Earlier on September 19, Tamil Nadu minister Tha Mo Anbarasan announced that Udhayanidhi Stalin is likely to be named Deputy Chief Minister within the next 7 to 10 days. Anbarasan also mentioned that the DMK Diamond Jubilee public meeting is scheduled for September 28 at Kanchipuram Pachayappa’s College for Men Ground. The meeting will be led by the Chief Minister, with alliance party members attending and participating.
