BJP Criticizes Congress for Silence on Hindu Temple Attacks in Canada

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized the Congress party for not speaking out against recent attacks on Hindu temples in Canada. BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla accused Congress leaders of prioritizing vote bank politics over principles. He noted that while Congress and its allies, including Priyanka Vadra and Rahul Gandhi, speak for Gaza, they remain silent on issues affecting Hindus in Canada and Bangladesh.

Poonawalla suggested that Congress considers radical elements attacking Hindus as part of their essential vote bank, which is why they do not address these issues. He emphasized that Congress only questions the Indian government and not the fundamentalist elements responsible for the attacks.

Recent Incident in Canada

On Sunday, a violent disruption occurred at an Indian consular camp at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, near Toronto. This incident is part of a series of attacks on Hindu temples, causing concern among the Hindu-Canadian community. In response, over a thousand Canadian Hindus protested outside the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton on Monday evening, following an attack by Khalistani extremists.

Response from Indian Authorities

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, calling it a “deliberate” and “cowardly” attempt to intimidate Indian diplomats. He urged Canadian authorities to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law. The Ministry of External Affairs also condemned the violence at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton, Ontario, highlighting a troubling trend of religious intolerance in Canada.
