In Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, BJP corporator Tahseen Shahid is working to bring his daughter-in-law, Andleep Zahra, from Pakistan to India. Andleep married Shahid’s son, Mohammad Abbas Haider, in an online ceremony on October 18. The virtual wedding was necessary due to visa issues and the illness of the bride’s mother, Rana Yasmin Zaidi. Shahid plans to request a visa from Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to unite the family in India.

The wedding took place online with family and friends from both countries participating. Shahid’s relatives in Jaunpur and the bride’s family in Pakistan joined the ceremony virtually. The couple’s marriage was celebrated despite the challenges posed by the lack of a travel visa and health concerns.

Tahseen Shahid is hopeful that the Indian government will grant a visa for his daughter-in-law. He intends to meet with key officials, including the Prime Minister, to expedite the process. Shahid’s efforts highlight the personal and diplomatic challenges faced by families with cross-border ties.
