BJP Announces Candidates for Jharkhand Assembly Elections
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of 66 candidates for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections. Babulal Marandi, the state BJP chief, will contest from Dhanwar. Other notable candidates include Lobin Hembrom from Borio, Sita Soren from Jamtara, and former Chief Minister Champai Soren from Saraikella. Geeta Balmuchu, Geeta Koda, and Meera Munda are also among the candidates.
The BJP will contest the elections in alliance with the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United) (JDU), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). According to the seat-sharing agreement, AJSU will contest 10 seats, JDU 2 seats, and LJP 1 seat, while BJP will contest the remaining 68 seats.
A joint press conference was held by Babulal Marandi, AJSU Chief Sudesh Mahato, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. They confirmed the alliance and seat-sharing details. The elections are scheduled for November 13 and 20, with vote counting on November 23. Jharkhand has 2.60 crore eligible voters, including 11.84 lakh first-time voters.
