BJP and Allies Unite for Jharkhand Elections
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its plan to contest the upcoming Jharkhand assembly elections alongside its National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies: All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP). This decision was shared during a joint press conference held in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Seat Sharing Agreement
According to the agreement, AJSU will contest 10 seats, JD(U) will contest 2 seats, and LJP will contest the lone seat of Chatra. The BJP will contest the remaining 68 seats. This arrangement was confirmed by State BJP President Babulal Marandi, AJSU Chief Sudesh Mahato, and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, who is also the election in-charge for Jharkhand.

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan emphasized the unity of the NDA in the elections, stating, “In Jharkhand, BJP, AJSU, JD(U), and LJP will contest the elections together. An agreement has also been reached on seat sharing and candidates will be announced soon.”
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is the election co-incharge in Jharkhand, provided details on the seat distribution among the allies. He mentioned that discussions are ongoing, and there might be adjustments later.

The Election Commission of India has announced that the 81-seat Jharkhand Assembly elections will be held on November 13 and 20, with vote counting on November 23. Jharkhand has 2.60 crore eligible voters, including 1.31 crore male and 1.29 crore female voters, and 11.84 lakh first-time voters.
