Birender Singh Criticizes BJP’s Position in Haryana Polls, PM Modi Campaigns

Former Union Minister and Congress leader Birender Singh expressed concerns about the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) position in the upcoming Haryana polls. He noted that Prime Minister Modi’s involvement in the campaign indicates the party’s struggles. Singh stated, “The position of the BJP is concerning. This is why the Prime Minister has also come to campaign. The Prime Minister holds a significant position, and his involvement is not usually required in state elections, but due to the current situation of the BJP, they are trying to bring the Prime Minister to Haryana. However, the outcome will depend on the people’s decision, which seems to have already been made.”

Singh added, “As of now, more than 70 percent of people are against the BJP. The BJP government will surely lose, but in this election, the BJP will become completely marginalised. Even after 10 years of rule, they have been unable to expand their party.”

Speaking on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Singh mentioned that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s presence is unlikely to make a big impact in the Assembly polls. “The AAP doesn’t have much influence in Haryana, so Kejriwal’s presence is unlikely to make a big impact,” he said.

Haryana Congress chief Udai Bhan expressed confidence that the Congress party will win more than 70 seats in the upcoming assembly polls. Bhan said, “The Congress party is getting huge public support wherever we go there is a huge crowd. In 2005, the Congress party got 67 seats and now we are getting more support than that, we hope that Congress will win more than 70 seats and form the government.”

During a rally at Kurukshetra in poll-bound Haryana, PM Modi referred to an incident in Karnataka where police briefly kept a Ganesha idol in a van meant for protestors during a protest. He criticized Congress, saying, “Appeasement is the biggest aim of the Congress. Today the condition is such that in Congress rule in Karnataka, Ganpatiji is being kept behind bars. The whole country is celebrating Ganeshotsav and Congress is putting hurdles.”

PM Modi also attacked Congress, claiming its “royal family” wants to do away with the reservation for Dalits and other weaker sections.

Haryana will go to the polls on October 5, and votes will be counted on October 8.
