Biplab Kumar Deb Visits Families After Tripura Landslide
Agartala (Tripura), August 27: Biplab Kumar Deb, the Lok Sabha MP from Tripura West, visited families affected by a devastating landslide in Ashwini Tripura Para, Shantirbazar subdivision. The landslide, caused by natural calamities, resulted in the loss of seven lives. Deb offered his condolences and support to the bereaved families and met with other residents displaced by ongoing floods, ensuring they receive necessary assistance.
Chief Minister Manik Saha’s Contribution
Earlier, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha donated his one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF). The donation was made on Monday, with Saha handing over a cheque to Additional Secretary Samit Roy Chowdhury. Saha urged citizens and organizations to support the relief efforts, stating, “I hereby contribute my one month’s salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for the purpose of providing relief to the people affected by the floods.”
Government’s Efforts and Current Situation
The Tripura government has requested the central government to send an advance Inter-Ministerial Central Team for an on-site assessment of the flood damage. Despite less rainfall in the last three days, the Gomati River at Sonamura remains above the danger level. The number of deaths has increased to 26, with one person missing and two injured.
