Bihar Introduces Drone Technology in Fisheries
The Bihar government has launched a new program to incorporate drone technology into its fisheries sector. The event was attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha, Union Minister for Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Rajiv Ranjan Singh, and Bihar’s Fisheries and Animal Husbandry Minister Renu Devi.
Chief Minister’s Address
CM Nitish Kumar expressed gratitude to the central government and highlighted the importance of drone technology in enhancing fish farming. He noted the significant progress since 2008, with fish production increasing from 2 lakh metric tonnes in 2005 to over 8 lakh metric tonnes now. He also mentioned the state’s shift from importing to exporting fish.
Union Minister’s Remarks
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh emphasized the involvement of nearly 60 lakh people in fish farming in Bihar. He pointed out the increase in the fisheries department’s budget from Rs2.87 crore before 2005 to Rs524 crore by 2022. Singh praised the collaboration between the central and state governments in boosting agricultural productivity.
