The Bihar Government and the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) granting BCA a 30-year lease on the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium. This agreement aims to transform the stadium into a state-of-the-art, international-standard sporting complex, a first for Bihar.

Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary attended the signing ceremony, where Bihar Sports Director Mahendra Kumar and BCA President Rakesh Tiwari signed the MoU. Tiwari expressed gratitude and assured that BCA will meet all government expectations for the stadium’s redevelopment.

“This redevelopment is a huge leap forward for cricket and sports in Bihar,” Tiwari stated. He also mentioned securing financial support from the BCCI for the project.

Future Plans and Features

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha highlighted the planned features of the new complex, including seating for 40,000 spectators, corporate and VIP boxes, sports courts, a swimming pool, hotels, and more. The foundation stone is expected to be laid in the presence of India’s Prime Minister or Home Minister.

Choudhary announced a waiver of the INR 37 crore registration fee for BCA, emphasizing the importance of fostering a sports culture in Bihar.
