Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary Confident in BJP’s Victory in Jharkhand Elections
In Patna, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed strong confidence in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forming the government in Jharkhand, even if the opposition unites against them. This statement came after the BJP released its first list of 66 candidates for the upcoming Jharkhand elections.
BJP’s Candidate List and Alliances
The BJP’s candidate list includes notable figures such as former Jharkhand Chief Ministers Champai Soren and Babulal Marandi. Champai Soren will contest from the Saraikella assembly seat, while Babulal Marandi will run from Dhanwar. The BJP is contesting the elections in alliance with the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), covering a total of 81 seats in the assembly.
Opposition’s Strategy
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced that the INDIA bloc, including Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress, will contest 70 of the 81 seats. Talks are ongoing with other parties like RJD and Left parties for the remaining seats.
Criticism from BJP
BJP’s national spokesperson CR Kesavan criticized the JMM-Congress alliance, calling it a ‘citadel of corruption’ and accusing them of disrespecting the Constitution. He expressed confidence that the people of Jharkhand would reject the current government in the upcoming elections.
