Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Transfers Rs 1,650.33 Crore for Rural Development

On October 7, Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, announced the transfer of Rs 1,650.33 crore to beneficiaries under various Rural Development Department schemes. This announcement was made at ‘Sankalp’, located at 1, Aney Marg in Patna.

Details of the Fund Allocation

Under the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme, Rs 113 crore was given to 34,000 beneficiaries to enhance their livelihoods. Additionally, Rs 400 crore was allocated as Community Investment Funds to 48,500 self-help groups under the Jeevika program.

Furthermore, a loan amount of Rs 537.33 crore was distributed to 15,314 self-help groups through different banks. Under the Lohia Swachh Bihar Abhiyan, Rs 180 crore was allocated to 1,50,000 families for toilet construction.

Housing and Flood Relief Initiatives

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin, housing was approved for 1,10,000 families, with Rs 420 crore transferred as the first installment to 1,05,000 beneficiaries.

Earlier, CM Kumar announced Rs 307 crore in relief funds for 4.39 lakh families affected by floods across 13 districts. Each family received Rs 7,000 through the Direct Benefit Transfer system. The remaining affected families are expected to receive their funds before Durga Puja, by October 9.
