Police Action

As the party workers tried to cross the barricade, police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse them. Additional Commissioner of Police Awadhesh Goswami stated that the Congress workers had permission to protest only up to Roshanpura crossing. When they tried to cross the barricade, police intervened to maintain order.

Congress chief Jitu Patwari said, “Today, we are protesting against the state BJP government that they should fulfil their promises made during state assembly elections. The state government should prevent atrocities against Dalit, provide employment to Youth and provide proper MSP (Minimum Support Price) to farmers, otherwise, ‘Hum It Se It Baja Denge Sarkar Ki’ we will destroy the government.”

Congress MLA Vikrant Bhuria added, “The state government is committing barbarity like we are terrorists. We are here to raise the voice of the public. The way, police used water cannons, tear gas, and lathi charged on us, we are not going to keep quiet.”

Additional Commissioner of Police Awadhesh Goswami mentioned that a few Congress workers were detained for creating nuisance and the situation is now under control.
