Big Drug Bust in Hyderabad: 170 kg of Ganja Seized, 8 Arrested
The Telangana Excise Department, along with the Special Task Force (STF), conducted a major operation in Hyderabad, seizing 170 kg of ganja and arresting eight individuals. The bust took place in the Pedda Amberpet area, where authorities also confiscated two vehicles and eight mobile phones.
Details of the Operation
According to SY Qureshi, Joint Commissioner of Prohibition and Excise in Telangana, the arrested individuals included five people from Maharashtra and three from Odisha’s Malkangiri. The ganja was hidden in a specially designed chamber in one of the vehicles, making it difficult to detect.
Main Accused and Modus Operandi
The main accused, Ismail, was responsible for arranging the ganja based on requests. This time, the ganja was being transported from Odisha to Maharashtra for sale to suppliers. Qureshi stated, “The Ganja was being transported from Odisha to Maharashtra. Accused Ismail is the main player. He is a resident of Odisha. All the accused persons have been caught at once. Their entire module has been busted.”

Qureshi praised the efforts of the police and the team involved in the operation, noting that they had been monitoring the gang for a long time. “And this is a very good operation by the police. We have been watching the moments of this module for a very long time. And the efforts of the team members and the team leaders are important,” he said.
