The seven-day event, Bhasha Gaurav Saptah, concluded on November 10 at Assam Bhawan in New Delhi. This celebration highlighted Assam’s rich linguistic heritage and recognized Assamese as a classical language.

Many academicians, students, and organizations, including the All Assamese Students’ Association, participated. Speakers praised the central government’s decision to honor Assamese with classical language status, which is expected to boost its growth and development. Suggestions were made to establish a library in Delhi with a collection of Assamese books.

A resolution was signed, tracing the Assamese language’s origins back to the 4th Century and commending the Narendra Modi-led NDA Government. This resolution will be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office by Assam Bhawan authorities.

The event also featured poetry recitations and a book release. Notable attendees included Ranadip Kumar Dam, Joint Secretary and OSD, Assam Bhawan; Surjya Kamal Borah, Deputy Resident Commissioner, Assam Bhawan; Mridusmita Baruah, Assistant Professor at DU; Deepsikha Mahanta Bortamuly, Assistant Professor at Daulat Ram College; and Dipjyoti Konwar, Researcher at Sasakawa Peace Foundation.
