Bharti Airtel Brings Mobile Connectivity to Remote Ladakh Areas Near Indo-China Border

Bharti Airtel Expands Network to Remote Ladakh Regions

In a significant development for connectivity in Ladakh, Bharti Airtel has installed mobile towers in Galwan and Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO), two remote areas along the Indo-China border. This makes Airtel the only private telecom provider to establish a network at 16,700 feet above sea level, reaching India’s northernmost military outpost.

Collaboration with Leh Signalers

The installation was completed in collaboration with the Leh Signalers, enhancing connectivity in some of the most remote parts of Ladakh. A total of 17 mobile towers have been set up across Kargil, Siachen, Galwan, DBO, and Changthang, providing network access to previously isolated villages and residents.

Strategic Importance

Galwan and DBO are strategically important due to their location near the northeastern corner of the Karakoram Range, an area with recent military tensions with China. The network expansion is expected to improve logistics, safety, and emergency responsiveness in these high-altitude areas.
