Bharat Biotech and ICMR Team Up for Covid-19 Vaccine Patent

Bharat Biotech has added the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) as a co-owner of the Covid-19 vaccine patent. Bharat Biotech was working hard to develop the vaccine quickly and faced many challenges. Initially, ICMR was not included in the patent application due to a confidential agreement. However, Bharat Biotech is now fixing this mistake.

The company has great respect for ICMR and appreciates their support. They are preparing the necessary legal documents to include ICMR as a co-owner and will file them soon. This action follows the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between ICMR-NIV Pune and Bharat Biotech in April 2020 for joint vaccine development.
