Bharat Bhushan and Dr Rajeev Bhagat Announced as BJP Candidates for Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections

Bharat Bhushan has been announced as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Kathua Assembly Constituency. He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top leaders of the party. Bhushan said, “I am very grateful to the Bharatiya Janata Party, especially our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, his entire central team and our state’s present Ravinder Rana ji, our Kathua head Gopal Mahajan ji…I am thankful to all of them who have reposed their confidence in me and I am very thankful to them.” He also requested voters to support the party for the development of Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Dr Rajeev Bhagat has been nominated as the BJP candidate from Bishnah Assembly constituency. He thanked PM Modi, BJP national president JP Nadda, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Bhagat appealed to the youth to focus on sports and promised to do everything in his capacity for them.

The Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls will be held in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with the counting of votes on October 8. There are 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, with seven seats reserved for SCs and nine for STs. The National Conference and the Congress have formed a pre-poll alliance. According to the Election Commission of India, there are 88.06 lakh eligible electors in Jammu and Kashmir. These are the first assembly elections after the abrogation of Article 370. In the previous elections, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won 28 seats, the BJP secured 25, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC) won 15, and the Congress won 12.
