Bengaluru’s BBMP and Sahavarthin Trust Launch ‘BITE FREE LOCALITY’ to Celebrate Dogs

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in collaboration with Sahavarthin Animal Welfare Trust is set to introduce several initiatives under the ‘BITE FREE LOCALITY’ program. This initiative aims to foster a harmonious environment for animals and humans.

Festival of Dogs

On October 17, BBMP will host a festival of dogs, inviting residents and animal caretakers to share heartwarming stories about their bonds with street dogs. This event seeks to change the negative perception of dogs, focusing on their loyalty and companionship.

Pilot Feeding Program

BBMP will also start a pilot feeding program, involving local workers from four wards to help feed community dogs. By coordinating with nearby restaurants, the program ensures that dogs receive consistent meals, utilizing leftover food effectively.

These efforts highlight the positive contributions of dogs to society and aim to create ‘coexistence champions’ who support a humane environment for all.
