Bengaluru Police Identify Suspect in Shocking Murder Case of Woman Found in Fridge
Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda announced on Monday that the police have identified the prime suspect in the case where the body of a 29-year-old woman, Mahalakshmi, was found chopped up and stuffed into a refrigerator. The Commissioner stated, “It is being investigated from all angles. The prime suspect has been identified and efforts are underway to arrest him.”
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara added that the police have gathered significant information and suspect a man from West Bengal to be behind the murder. However, more evidence is needed to confirm his role. The Minister also highlighted the government’s efforts to enhance women’s safety in Bengaluru, including the installation of CCTV cameras.
The gruesome discovery was made on September 21 in Vinayaka Nagar, Vyalikaval, where Mahalakshmi had been living alone for the past five months. The body parts were highly decomposed, suggesting the murder occurred about two weeks ago.
The BJP criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government, alleging a collapse in law and order. The BJP’s official handle posted on X, “Under @INCKarnataka rule, appeasement policies have led to a complete collapse of law and order. The brutal murder of Mahalakshmi by Ashraf is a clear reminder that Kannadigas are no longer safe in this Hitler-led @siddaramaiah government.”
