Bengaluru FC Wins 3-0 Against Inter Kashi in Durand Cup
Kokrajhar (Assam) [India], August 3: Former champions Bengaluru FC posted a comfortable 3-0 victory over I-League team Inter Kashi in Group B of the Durand Cup at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan on Saturday. The goals were scored by Spanish players Edgar Mendez and Alberto Noguera Ripoll, with the final goal coming from Sunil Chhetri.
Bengaluru FC, after their opening four-goal win against the Indian Navy, maintained a 100% record. Inter Kashi, who drew their first game against Mohammedan Sporting, will need a big win in their final group game to advance.
Gerard Zaragoza, the coach of Bengaluru FC, made a couple of changes to his starting lineup, including Mendez, who scored a penalty in the first half. Sunil Chhetri started on the bench but was brought on in the second half. Inter Kashi’s coach, Izumi Arata, kept the same lineup that drew against Mohammedan Sporting.
Inter Kashi struggled to get a shot on goal in the first half as Bengaluru FC dominated possession. Mendez broke the deadlock with a penalty after a handball by Panicker. In the second half, Zaragoza introduced key players like Jorge Peryra Diaz and Ryan Williams, increasing the game’s intensity.
Ripoll scored the second goal in the 77th minute, finishing a move he initiated. Chhetri then scored the third goal with a header from a corner. Ryan Williams missed a penalty after being brought down by Anand Usuda.
