Bengaluru FC Signs Spanish Midfielder Pedro Capo for One Year
Bengaluru FC, a top football club in India, has announced the signing of Spanish midfielder Pedro Capo on a one-year deal. The 33-year-old player, who can also play as a center-back, most recently played for Eldense CF in Spain’s Segunda Division.
Capo expressed his excitement about joining Bengaluru FC, saying, “I’m really glad to have signed with Bengaluru FC, one of the best clubs in India. My conversations with Gerard (Zaragoza) have given me a lot of enthusiasm, and a desire to perform.”
Capo began his career with youth academies at La Salle Mahon, Atletico Villacarlos, and Penya Cuitadella before joining Sporting Mahones in 2009. He has played for several Spanish teams, amassing over 350 appearances and achieving promotion with Sabadell in 2020. In 2021, he signed for Eldense and went on to captain the side.
Darren Caldeira, Bengaluru FC’s Director of Football, said, “We’re really glad to bring in Pedro, who has been a consistent performer with all the teams he has played for in his career so far. He also brings with him rich experience of playing in some of the toughest leagues in Spain.”
Capo will join Bengaluru FC for their pre-season ahead of the Durand Cup 2024. This marks Capo as the seventh signing for Bengaluru FC this summer, following Alberto Noguera, Jorge Pereyra Diaz, Edgar Mendez, Mohamed Salah, Rahul Bheke, and Lalthuammawia Ralte.
Head Coach Gerard Zaragoza added, “Pedro is a player with immense experience in the Spanish Segunda B and one who I am sure will do well for us. He’s a leader on the pitch, and both his previous teams earned promotion to La Liga 2.”
The Blues will start their 2024-25 campaign with a Durand Cup match against the Indian Navy Football Team on July 31 in Kolkata.
