Bengaluru Airport Ships Record 822 Tonnes of Mangoes to 60 Countries
Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru has successfully concluded another exceptional mango export season, solidifying its reputation in the agricultural export industry. In 2024, the airport shipped a staggering 822 metric tonnes (MT) of mangoes, marking a 20% year-on-year growth.
This season saw a total of 27 lakh pieces of mangoes exported, representing a 59% rise in volume compared to the previous year. The increasing demand for Indian mangoes in overseas markets and the airport’s operational efficiency in handling perishable exports contributed to this success.
Mango exports to US destinations surged, with Washington Dulles (IAD), Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), and San Francisco (SFO) being the top destinations. The airport’s extensive export network includes over 60 international destinations, such as Chicago (ORD), Seattle (SEA), Dubai (DXB), London (LHR), and Houston (IAH).
Satyaki Raghunath, the Chief Operating Officer at Bangalore International Airport, stated, “BLR Airport’s technologically advanced cold storage facility, WFS BLR Coolport, plays a crucial role in preserving the quality of the perishable produce throughout the supply chain. This achievement of substantially increasing our mango exports year-on-year reaffirms our position as a premier gateway that meets the growing demand for Indian mangoes, particularly to key international destinations.”
