Barath Manoharan Wins India’s First FEI CSI 2 Equestrian Event in Bengaluru

In a groundbreaking achievement for Indian equestrian sports, Barath Manoharan emerged victorious in the country’s first-ever FEI concours saut international 2 (CSI 2) two-phase competition. The event took place at the prestigious Surge Stable in Bengaluru, where Barath, riding Qina, completed the 135 cm course in an impressive 36.03 seconds on Day 3. He narrowly defeated Kirat Nagra, who finished second on Little Joe with a time of 37.29 seconds. M Krishna Sahithi secured third place riding Asca IX Z with a time of 39.74 seconds.

Barath’s victory earned him a prize of Rs3,50,000, while Kirat and Sahithi received Rs2,70,000 and Rs2,02,500, respectively. Unfortunately, the Grand Prix competition scheduled for later in the day was canceled due to bad weather, according to the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI).

Jaiveer Singh, General Secretary of the EFI, expressed pride in hosting India’s first FEI CSI 2 event, highlighting the talent of young riders on an international stage. In the FEI CSI Junior event, Jaiveer Verma triumphed with a flawless jump-off round on Gianninaa, surpassing Jai Singh Sabharwal, who had been leading on Day 1 and Day 2. Neil Kendall claimed third place, overtaking Avik Bhatia.

In the children’s category, Aradhana Anand continued her winning streak, securing first place on Democratic for the second day in a row. Harshvardhan Singh Gulia and Aagastya Sharma followed in second and third places, respectively. The winners received cash prizes, with Aradhana earning approximately Rs68,000.

The event, held from October 18-20, brought together over 50 riders aged 12 and above, competing in various categories, including the Children (FEI CSI Ch) and Junior (FEI CSI Junior) events, culminating in the CSI 2* competitions each day.
