Bansuri Swaraj Challenges Atishi Over Delhi Budget Claims
Delhi BJP Secretary and MP Bansuri Swaraj accused Delhi Finance Minister Atishi of spreading lies about the Union Budget 2024’s allocation to Delhi. Swaraj stated that the central government has invested Rs5.5 lakh crore in Delhi over the past decade. She challenged Atishi to a public debate on the financial aid given to Delhi.
Atishi criticized the budget, saying it neglected Delhi despite its Rs 2.60 lakh crore tax contributions. She demanded at least five percent of this amount for Delhi’s welfare. Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj also expressed dissatisfaction, noting that funds were allocated mainly to Bihar and Andhra Pradesh.
The BJP plans nationwide programs to explain the budget’s benefits amid opposition protests. Union Ministers and national office bearers will visit prominent places to discuss the budget, and Members of Parliament will hold programs in every district.
