Bansuri Swaraj Appointed as NDMC Member in New Delhi
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the appointment of Lok Sabha MP Bansuri Swaraj as a member of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Bansuri Swaraj, daughter of the late BJP leader Sushma Swaraj, represents the New Delhi constituency in the Lok Sabha. She succeeds Meenakshi Lekhi, who held the position for the past decade.
As an NDMC member, Bansuri will be involved in urban planning, including land use and zoning regulations, and infrastructure development. She will oversee essential public services such as water supply, electricity, sewage, and waste management, ensuring they meet residents’ needs efficiently.
Her responsibilities also include maintaining public health standards, managing healthcare facilities, and implementing public health campaigns. Bansuri will supervise municipal schools and welfare programs, enforce building codes and health regulations, and participate in the budgeting process to ensure financial discipline.
Additionally, she will serve as a liaison between citizens and the council, addressing public grievances and encouraging community participation in municipal governance. Through these roles, Bansuri Swaraj will contribute to the development and governance of New Delhi, ensuring it remains a well-managed urban area.
