Banker Sushant Chakravarti Jumps from Atal Setu in Mumbai
Sushant Chakravarti, a 40-year-old banker, jumped from Mumbai’s Atal Setu bridge into the sea. His body was found on the seashore in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday.
Identity Confirmation
The police confirmed Chakravarti’s identity through CCTV footage, a ring on his hand, his car keys, and the watch he was wearing. His family was informed by the police.
Details of the Incident
Chakravarti lived with his wife and daughter in Parel and worked as a deputy manager at a government bank in Hutatma Chowk, Mumbai’s Fort area. He had been under work stress recently. On Monday morning, he left home saying he was going to work but instead went to Atal Setu and jumped into the sea. The incident was captured on CCTV at 9:57 AM.
Investigation
The Shivdi police recovered his car parked at the edge of the bridge. They called Chakravarti’s wife for questioning, but no suicide note or related information was found on his mobile phone. Rescue teams were dispatched immediately to search for him.
