Bangladesh Army Chief Ensures Safety for Durga Puja
In Dhaka, Bangladesh, General Waqar-uz-Zaman, the Chief of the Bangladesh Army, has assured the Hindu community of their safety during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations. This assurance was given during his visit to the Dhakeshwari Temple, where he reviewed security measures.
General Waqar-uz-Zaman extended his greetings to all Hindus for Durga Puja, the largest religious festival for Bangladeshi Hindus. He held discussions with key stakeholders, including the Metropolitan Puja Committee and the President of the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Parishad.
He stated, “According to the instructions of the interim government, the Bangladesh Army has taken appropriate measures to ensure the safety of all during the celebration of the Durga Puja, the festival of Hindus, by keeping the law and order situation under control.” The army is deployed across districts to secure places of worship.
The Army Chief expressed hope that Hindus in Bangladesh would celebrate Sharidiya Durgotsav with enthusiasm. Durga Puja will be celebrated from October 9 to 13 in 32,666 pavilions across Bangladesh.
Recently, the Bangladesh Combined Minority Alliance held a protest rally expressing concerns about the safety and security of Hindus.
