Bangladesh Air Force C-130J Lands Safely, Sheikh Hasina in India Amid Political Unrest
A Bangladesh Air Force C-130J transport aircraft carrying seven military personnel has safely landed at a Bangladeshi air base after flying from India. The aircraft was monitored throughout its flight by security agencies.
Earlier, the C-130J took off from the Hindon Air Force base in India at around 9 am IST. Notably, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was not on board. She arrived in India on Monday evening after resigning from her position amid mounting protests in Bangladesh.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar chaired an all-party meeting in the Indian Parliament to discuss the developments in Bangladesh. He informed the leaders about the situation and mentioned that the Indian government is in touch with the Bangladesh Army. Jaishankar also stated that 8000 out of 20000 Indian nationals in Bangladesh have returned, and the Indian High Commission continues to operate there.
Bangladesh is currently facing political unrest, with protests led by students demanding an end to a quota system for government jobs escalating into anti-government demonstrations.
