Cheema explained that a membership drive will precede the election process, where Circle delegates will be elected, followed by District and State delegates. Previously, in July, the Shiromani Akali Dal dissolved its core committee, with plans to reorganize it soon. Some leaders had called for Badal's resignation after the party's poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections, while others continue to support him.
