Baloch Yakjehti Committee Faces Crackdown in Balochistan Protests

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) is facing significant resistance from Pakistani forces during peaceful protests against enforced disappearances in Balochistan. These protests began in Karachi and spread to districts like Hub Chowki, Khuzdar, and Turbat. However, the state responded with aggression, dispersing gatherings and arresting BYC members.

In Karachi, the Sindh Police and intelligence agencies violently disrupted protests, harassing women and children. In Hub Chowki, police blocked the Lasbella Press Club, preventing protestors from marching. Khuzdar saw heavy police deployment, and internet services were disrupted, violating the freedom of assembly.

The BYC expressed on social media that state authorities consistently prevent peaceful Baloch assemblies, resorting to violence and communication blackouts. They highlighted the increase in enforced disappearances and the state’s efforts to suppress Baloch resistance.

The BYC called for public support to protest against the Baloch genocide and enforced disappearances. Activist Mahrang Baloch urged participation in the “Breaking the Silence: Standing Against Enforced Disappearances” campaign, emphasizing the violation of freedom of speech and assembly.
