Baloch Unity Committee Honors Protestors in Nushki, Balochistan

The Baloch Unity Committee is holding a special gathering, called a Diwan, in Nushki, Balochistan to honor the protestors who were killed during the Baloch Raji Machi, also known as the Baloch National Gathering. A large number of people have gathered in Nushki for this event.

The Baloch Raji Machi’s caravan arrived in Nushki last night and will head to Quetta after the Diwan. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) shared photos and videos of the gathering on social media, stating, ‘Diwan started in memory of the martyrs of Baloch Raji Machi, in which homage will be paid to the martyrs of Baloch Raji Machi.’

Recently, the BYC ended its sit-in protests in Gwadar and other parts of Balochistan after successful negotiations with government representatives. The talks took place in Gwadar, and on August 9, the Baloch caravans left for Turbat from Gwadar. A special assembly is planned for Turbat later in the evening.

The BYC had demanded that the Pakistani government ensure that no participant or helper of the Baloch National Gathering would be harassed, no further FIRs would be filed, and no unnecessary force would be used in future peaceful programs.

Balochistan has long been a region of tension and conflict between Baloch activists and Pakistani security forces, with numerous human rights abuses reported, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and torture.
