Baloch Students Abducted by Pakistani Authorities: BYC Calls for Global Action

Baloch Students Abducted by Pakistani Authorities

In Balochistan, Pakistan, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), a leading human rights organization, has reported the arrest of innocent Baloch students by Pakistani authorities. The incident details were shared on the social media platform X. BYC stated that intelligence agencies have become vindictive following security failures, leading to a surge in enforced disappearances, particularly of Baloch students in Punjab and Karachi.

On October 16, nine students from Karachi, enrolled in various courses such as law, sciences, and social sciences, were abducted. BYC has called for global action against these atrocities, urging the international community, human rights organizations, and media to notice the alarming increase in enforced disappearances. The families of these students live in constant fear and pain.

Earlier, on October 15, four Baloch youngsters from Parom, Panjgur, were also reported missing. They were in Karachi for medical purposes and were staying at a hotel in Saddar. Witnesses reported that police and agency personnel raided the hotel, detaining the boys and the hotel manager, who was later released.

Balochistan faces numerous issues, including enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and torture by state security forces. Activists and journalists speaking out against these abuses often face intimidation. The Baloch people feel excluded from political power, with many leaders advocating for greater autonomy.
