Kech [Balochistan], June 24: Bahadur, a philosophy student at Karachi University, was reportedly abducted from his hometown of Pasni. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) shared on social media that Bahadur, son of Basheer Ahmed, was taken by security agencies during his Eid break.

Following the incident, Bahadur’s family began a sit-in protest at Pasni Zero-Point, blocking the Makran Coastal Highway. The BYC called on the people of Pasni to support the family and oppose enforced disappearances.

The BYC also invited journalists to a press conference at the D.C. office in Kech district, coinciding with the 8th day of the ongoing sit-in protest. Families of other missing individuals from Turbat have also been protesting, demanding the safe return of their loved ones.

The Pakistani government views Baloch students and activists as potential threats, leading to harassment and enforced disappearances. Human rights organizations have documented cases of Baloch activists being abducted and found deceased under suspicious circumstances, accusing state authorities of extrajudicial killings. Pakistan denies these accusations, claiming that casualties during security operations are justified actions against insurgents and terrorists.

Despite Pakistan’s stance, the international community remains concerned about human rights violations and the suppression of Baloch perspectives and rights within the country. This situation underscores ongoing tensions and complexities in ethnic relations and civil liberties in Pakistan.
