Bail Hearing for Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa in Renukaswamy Murder Case Postponed

The 57th Magistrate Court in Bengaluru has postponed the bail hearing for actor Darshan Thoogudeepa to September 27 and for his friend Pavithra Gowda to September 25 in the Renukaswamy murder case. Darshan had filed a bail application on September 21. The court has already granted bail to other accused, including Nikhil Naik, Karthik, and Keshava Murthy.

Earlier this month, Bengaluru police submitted a detailed charge sheet against 17 accused, including Darshan and Pavithra. The charge sheet, consisting of 3,991 pages, was submitted to the 24th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court. Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru B Dayananda, stated that the charge sheet was prepared after a thorough investigation.

Actor Darshan was previously shifted to Bellary Jail after a photo of him with a rowdy-sheeter in Parappana Agrahara Central Jail went viral. Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda commented on the matter, stating that any extra privileges given to Darshan were wrong and that responsible officers should be held accountable. The Karnataka government has suspended seven prison officials in connection with the incident.

The case involves the murder of Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old from Chitradurga, whose body was found in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru, on June 9.
