Bahraich Forest Officer Ajit Singh Leads Effort to Capture Last Wolf in Uttar Pradesh

Bahraich’s Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ajit Singh is working hard to catch the last wolf in Uttar Pradesh. The forest department has already captured five wolves, but one is still out there, causing fear among the villagers.

Ongoing Efforts

Ajit Singh explained that the forest department is patrolling at night and using teams to track the wolf. They believe that if they can track the wolf for half an hour, they will be able to catch it. However, rain has made the operation a bit difficult as the wolf tends to hide during bad weather.

Operation Bhediya

The Uttar Pradesh Forest Department started ‘Operation Bhediya’ to catch a pack of wolves responsible for attacks in 25-30 villages in the Bahraich range. They have installed snap cameras in likely wolf habitats to monitor their movements. Three cameras are set up in Sikandarpur village around six caves, which locals believe are home to the wolves.

Impact on Villagers

The wolves have attacked many villagers, resulting in nine deaths and over 50 injuries. The forest department is doing everything they can to catch the last wolf and keep the villagers safe.
