Badrinath National Highway Reopened in Chatwapipal After Blockage

The Badrinath National Highway, which was blocked in Chatwapipal, Uttarakhand, has been reopened for vehicular movement, according to Chamoli Police. The road was cleared and opened at around 10 am today.

Chamoli Police shared the update on social media, stating, “The blocked road near Chatwapipal has been opened.”

Earlier, the highway was blocked due to debris accumulation near Nandprayag and Chatwapipal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted isolated heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand from September 25-27, which could lead to further disruptions.

On September 14, heavy rainfall caused multiple landslides along the Badrinath National Highway, blocking the road at several points including Lambagad, Nandprayag, Sonala, and Barrage Kunj. An alternate route between Sakot and Nandprayag was also blocked.

Chamoli Police have been stopping travelers at safe locations due to the frequent landslides and road blockages. The highway has also been previously blocked at Kameda (Gauchar), Nandprayag, and Chhinka, causing traffic disruptions.
