In Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, BJP leader Babita Phogat shared her thoughts on her cousin Vinesh Phogat contesting the 2024 Haryana elections as a Congress candidate. Babita, a former wrestler, is not running this time, while Vinesh is contesting from the Julana Assembly Constituency against BJP’s Captain Yogesh Bairagi. Vinesh joined Congress on September 6 and was a key figure in protests against BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh last year.

Babita cast her vote in Charkhi Dadri and encouraged Haryana’s citizens to vote for the state’s welfare and development. She expressed respect for Vinesh’s decision to join Congress, emphasizing that party affiliation is a personal choice.

The election is crucial as BJP seeks a third term, while Congress aims to regain power, focusing on issues like farmer and wrestler protests. Key parties include BJP, Congress, AAP, and alliances like INLD-BSP and JJP-ASP. Voting began for 90 seats, with a 9.53% turnout by 9 AM. Jind had the highest turnout at 12.71%.
