Avinash Sable Breaks National Record in Paris Diamond League 2024

Indian runner Avinash Sable, who is preparing for his second Olympic Games in Paris, broke the national record in the men’s 3000m steeplechase event at the Diamond League 2024. He finished sixth with a time of 8:09.91, surpassing his previous record of 8:11.20 set at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

The race was won by Ethiopia’s Abrham Sime with a personal best of 8:02.36. Amos Serem of Kenya came second, and Abraham Kibiwot of Kenya finished third. A total of 17 runners participated in the event.

This was Sable’s third 3000m steeplechase competition of the year. He previously finished second at the Portland Track Festival in Orlando and won India’s inter-state competition in Panchkula.

In the javelin throw, India’s Kishore Jena finished eighth with a best effort of 78.10m. Germany’s Julian Weber won the event, followed by Anderson Peters of Grenada and Jakub Vadlejch of Czechia.

The Diamond League is an annual series of top-tier track and field competitions organized by World Athletics. The finals will be held in Brussels, Belgium in September.
