Philip Green, the Australian High Commissioner to India, visited Arunachal Pradesh and met with the state’s Governor, Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.), at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar. During their meeting, they discussed various topics such as entrepreneurship, skill development, technology, mineral exploration, hydropower, tourism, and opportunities for bilateral ventures.

Focus on Youth and Tourism

The Governor emphasized the potential of the state’s youth in entrepreneurship, skill development, and technology, suggesting exchange programs for better exposure and assistance. He also highlighted the state’s tourism potential, including eco, adventure, and cultural tourism, and the rich cultural heritage of Indigenous tribal communities.

Exploration and Research Opportunities

They discussed the mineral potential of Arunachal Pradesh and the possibility of cooperation in mineral prospecting. The Governor pointed out the scope for research in anthropology, as well as studies on the state’s flora and fauna.

Philip Green was accompanied by Australian Consul General from Kolkata, Hugh Boylan, Vice Consul from Bengaluru, Harriet White, and Senior Research Officer Vandana Seth. The envoy appreciated the state and its people during his five-day visit.
