Assam’s NHM Signs MoUs with NRL and OIL for New Dialysis Machines

On July 26, in Guwahati, Assam, the National Health Mission (NHM) signed two important agreements with Oil India Rural Development Society and Numaligarh Refinery Limited. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was present at the event held at Lok Sewa Bhawan.

These agreements will provide financial assistance of Rs. 2.5 crore each to buy new hemodialysis machines. These machines are crucial for treating patients with advanced kidney failure. The goal is to make these machines available in dialysis centers, helping patients save money on their treatments.

The Department of Health and Family Welfare in Assam, through the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis program, already offers free hemodialysis services in 41 centers with 277 machines. Due to increasing demand, the program will expand to 37 new hospitals with 150 additional machines.

Important figures at the event included Commissioner and Secretary Health and Family Welfare P. Ashok Babu, NHM Assam Mission Director M.S. Lakshmi Priya, NRL MD Bhaskar Jyoti Phukan, NRL CGM Kajal Saikia, Oil India Rural Development Society President Bhairab Bhuyan, and CGM Administration Pipeline Headquarters Arunjyoti Baruah.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma -: CM stands for Chief Minister. Himanta Biswa Sarma is the current Chief Minister of Assam, a state in India.

Hemodialysis -: Hemodialysis is a medical treatment that uses a machine to filter waste and water from the blood, which is normally done by healthy kidneys.

Rs. 2.5 crore -: Rs. 2.5 crore is a large amount of money in Indian currency, equal to 25 million rupees.

Kidney Failure -: Kidney failure is a serious condition where the kidneys stop working properly, and patients need treatments like dialysis to survive.
