Assam to Host First-Ever Science Fair at 77th Assam Sahitya Sabha Conference
The Assam government will organize a Science Fair for the first time during the 77th Biennial Conference of Assam Sahitya Sabha. The event will take place from January 31 to February 4, 2025, in Pathsala.
Promoting Science Among Students
Assam Panchayat Rural & Development Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass announced the Science Fair, emphasizing its goal to promote science-related activities among students and the general public. He mentioned that the fair would replace the traditional trade fair held during the conference.
Collaborations and Support
The Science Fair will be organized with the help of the Science and Technology Department, led by Minister Keshab Mahanta, and its allied departments. Various organizations, including the Oil Museum, Railways, IIT Guwahati, Dibrugarh University, and Assam Agriculture University, will also participate.
Benefits for Students
Minister Dass highlighted that the student community would greatly benefit from the Science Fair. He noted that the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to promote science and technology. The fair will feature numerous science-related activities and involve 30-40 scientists from the Bajali area, who are currently working outside the region.

Assam Sahitya Sabha, founded in 1917, is the state’s largest and oldest literary organization. The first president was Padmanath Gohain Barua, and the inaugural conference was held in Sivasagar.
