Assam Rifles Seize Marijuana and Cash in Mizoram Operations

In a series of successful operations, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Excise & Narcotics department, seized marijuana and Indian currency in Champhai, Mizoram. The total value of the seized items is Rs 95.44 lacs. Two individuals were apprehended during these operations.

Details of the Operations

The first operation took place in Gen Area Zote, Champhai, where 7.36 kgs of marijuana worth Rs 5.44 lacs was recovered. A 33-year-old individual was apprehended in connection with this seizure.

In a separate operation at Vengsang, Champhai, Indian currency amounting to Rs 90 lakh was recovered. A 38-year-old Myanmar national named Thanpmanglian was apprehended.

Efforts Against Smuggling

The Assam Rifles, known as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast,’ have been actively working to combat the smuggling of illegal items in Mizoram. These operations are part of their ongoing efforts to address the issue and capture the leaders of smuggling networks.

The seized items and the apprehended individuals have been handed over to the Excise & Narcotics department in Champhai for further legal action.
