In a significant operation, the Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police successfully recovered 39,900 detonators near the Indo-Myanmar border. Acting on specific intelligence about the movement of dangerous items near the Tayo River, the forces launched an operation to intercept a suspicious bike. The rider, realizing he might be caught, abandoned the bike and fled across the river. Upon searching, the authorities found the detonators and a mobile phone.

This operation highlights the effective intelligence-gathering, careful planning, and strong coordination between the Assam Rifles and local police. The recovered items have been handed over to the Mizoram Police for further investigation.

Previous Operations

Earlier, on October 10, the Assam Rifles conducted two separate operations in Champhai, Mizoram. They recovered marijuana and Indian currency worth Rs 95.44 lakh. In the first operation in Gen Area Zote, 7.36 kgs of marijuana valued at Rs 5.44 lakh was seized, and a 33-year-old individual was apprehended. In the second operation at Vengsang, Indian currency worth Rs 90 lakh was recovered, and a 38-year-old Myanmar national named Thanpmanglian was apprehended. These operations were conducted by the Assam Rifles and Excise & Narcotics, Champhai based on specific information. The seized items and individuals were handed over to the Excise & Narcotics, Champhai for further legal action.
