Assam Rifles and CRPF Deploy Anti-Drone Systems in Manipur Amidst Rising Tensions

In Imphal, Manipur, the Assam Rifles (AR) have deployed anti-drone systems to counter ‘rogue drones.’ The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is also bringing additional anti-drone guns to the state to enhance security.

According to a post by Manipur Police on social media platform X, AR has set up anti-drone systems in fringe areas, and CRPF has tested and deployed one anti-drone system, with more on the way.

The state police are also procuring anti-drone systems to improve security and tackle drone threats effectively.

In a tragic incident, Kuki militants used long-range rockets in civilian areas, killing a 78-year-old man named RK Rabei and injuring six others in Bishnupur. The attack also destroyed three bunkers in Churachandpur.

The Superintendent of Police was fired upon by suspected Kuki militants, and senior officers, including the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), inspected the affected areas to implement countermeasures.

Manipur Inspector General of Police, Intelligence, K Kabib, reported that three bodies of miscreants were found after a heavy exchange of fire in Nungchappi village, Jiribam district. A 63-year-old civilian was also killed in an attack by suspected Kuki militants in Jiribam.

IGP Kabib stated that the Manipur Police are closely reviewing the security situation and coordinating with other forces. Combing operations are intensified, focusing on long-range rockets and drones, covering 3-5 km areas.

Prohibitory orders were issued by the district magistrate, restricting assemblies of more than five people and the carrying of arms and ammunition.

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. Movement of essential items along NH-37 and NH-2 was ensured with strict security measures.

A total of 92 checkpoints were installed across different districts, and 129 persons were detained for violations.
