Assam Police Seize Fake Currency and Drugs in Guwahati
In Guwahati, Assam, the police successfully seized fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 60.58 lakh. The operation led to the arrest of Hafiz Ali, a 27-year-old from Dhemaji district, who was caught at the Inter State Bus Terminal (ISBT) with a bag full of counterfeit notes. Commissioner of Police, Diganta Barah, confirmed the recovery of 12,116 pieces of Rs 500 notes. The seized items and the accused were taken to the police outpost for further investigation.
In a separate incident, the police intercepted a truck carrying 16.2 kg of ganja and 286 grams of heroin. Three individuals were apprehended, including the driver Md Kamal Hassan, his helper Saddam, and the alleged mastermind Md Arif Khan. The consignment was reportedly sent by veteran drug peddler Md Boboi Ahmed from Manipur. The police acted on a tip-off and intercepted the truck at Amingaon, while Arif Khan was arrested at Basistha.
