Assam Police Seize 22,000 Boxes of Foreign Cigarettes in Kamrup District
The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam police seized 22,000 boxes of foreign cigarettes in the Amingaon area of Kamrup district. The STF team, acting on intelligence, intercepted a truck with registration number HR-38Z-8530, which was transporting the cigarettes from Silchar to Raipur. The driver, Parashu Baishya, was apprehended, and further raids led to the detention of three others: Sahil Dewan, Ashique Ikbal, and Ajit Saloi.
Earlier, Assam police seized 30,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 9 crore in Cachar district. The operation, conducted on July 27, led to the arrest of Abdul Alim, a resident of Saptagram village. A scooty used in the illegal transportation was also seized.
